Monroe Lake is the largest reservoir in Indiana, located in Monroe and Brown counties. The lake was created in the 1960s as part of the flood control project by the US Army Corps of Engineers, which resulted in the construction of the Monroe Dam across the Salt Creek. The lake covers an area of 10,750 acres and has over 13,000 acres of surrounding land managed by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
