Chaubunagungamaug Lake, also known as Webster Lake, is a large, natural lake located in central Massachusetts. The lake's name is derived from the Nipmuc language, meaning "fishing place at the boundary." It is one of the longest place names in the United States, and the name is often shortened to "Webster Lake" for simplicity.

The lake has a long history of human use, dating back to Native American tribes who used the lake for fishing and hunting. In the 19th century, the lake became a popular destination for tourists and summer vacationers, and many wealthy families built grand homes along the lake's shores. Today, the lake remains a popular recreational spot for boating, fishing, and swimming.

Chaubunagungamaug Lake is known for its crystal-clear water, which is due to its natural filtration system. The lake has a variety of fish species, including largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, pickerel, perch, and trout. Bald eagles, ospreys, and other birds of prey can also be spotted around the lake.

One interesting fact about the lake is that it has 17 miles of shoreline, but over 35 miles of navigable waterways due to its many inlets and coves. Additionally, the lake is home to a unique phenomenon known as "ice-out," where residents place bets on the exact date that the lake's ice will melt in the spring. The lake is also home to several islands, including "Treasure Island," which is rumored to be the site of buried pirate treasure.
