Neely Henry Lake is a 11,200-acre reservoir on the Coosa River in northeast Alabama, stretching from the area around Weiss Dam down to Gadsden and Ohatchee. Created in 1966 when Alabama Power built Neely Henry Dam, the lake was named after H. Neely Henry, a longtime Alabama Power executive. What makes Neely Henry special is its unique blend of river and lake characteristics, with miles of winding shoreline, scenic wooded banks, and some of the best spotted bass fishing in the state. The lake has become a favorite destination for anglers and has hosted major bass tournaments, while its rich Coosa River history and relatively uncrowded waters give it a character that feels both wild and welcoming.
